Hey guys! What’s up and welcome back to another episode of hear and now podcast! Today is the fifth and final episode of the Lenten podcast episode series and we are catching up and chatting about holy week.
I hope you guys are all doing well. I took off last week because school is getting crazy and believe it or not we have finals coming very soon. Also last week I posted an IGTV on block scheduling so if you want to check that out go find the link in the show notes below!
But this week is Holy Week! I can’t believe Lent is almost over and Easter is almost here. This is probably my favorite week of the whole year. We just celebrated palm Sunday and to be honest it felt weird not being able to be there in person to celebrate mass. I’m so used to having palms and standing in church for the longest reading ever (ps my mom wrote a blog post about it, link in show notes)
This week will feel even weirder. I talked about this in my last episode, lenten episode #4, improvising, on how my family is changing around our normal routine and adapting to this.
So this week, instead of visiting churches like we usually do, we are going to pray more together, spend more time reading the Bible and reflecting on Christ’s journey this week. We are going to attend church virtually but still dress up out of reverence for this week.
The schedule this week is going to look different, and that’s okay. But just so you know, Thursday is Holy Thursday, the day we remember Jesus celebrating the last supper. On Good Friday, we remember Christ’s walk to the cross and His death. On Holy Saturday, we spend the day in quiet, much like everyone else did as they buried Christ in the tomb. And of course, Sunday is the day we celebrate Easter and Christ rising from the dead!
It’s going to be a very different week but I always find comfort in remembering that even the early christians broke bread together with their families, instead of in large churches.
I wanted to quickly share with you a prayer I heard today – Lord, please show me who I am and who you are. This prayer is so good going into this week as we grow closer to Jesus’s walk to the cross.
And one more prayer, let’s close with an Our Father for a good holy week.
Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil amen!
