5 Habits to Incorporate into this Year

by | Jan 17, 2020 | Life

We are well into the month of a new year and new decade. For the most part, people have given up on their new year’s resolutions. Today on the blog I am giving you some habits to incorporate into your year.

-1- Practice self-care

I frequently struggle with taking time to self-care. But after realizing what a difference it makes to put on makeup or fix my hair, I don’t want to stop doing that! Just looking put together will change your mindset and make you feel more put together. Also! Self-care isn’t limited to the physical things. It definitely means taking time to pray or talk to yourself lovingly. Incorporate self-care into your new year routines.

Maybe it’s watching your favorite TV at night after a particularly difficult day (I wish Friends was still on Netflix 🙁 The Office will have to do…)

-2- Don’t just dream, do.

I’ve always been the type of person to go after something that I want. But sometimes, fear holds me back. This year I am determined to not let fear get in the way of my dreams and desires. So if you want to start a podcast, do it! I have a course here if you want guidance. If you want to start a blog or business, do it! Again, I can help you out with that piece too…

-3- Read more!

I love to read, but lately I’ve found myself doing more computer work than taking time to read. I read all of Lauren Weisberger’s books because they are that good (Devil Wears Prada series). I also like to read philosophical books. Take time before bed to read and unwind with a good, leisurely book.

-4-  GRATITUDE

What a change I’ve seen in my life since I started practicing gratitude. I find myself being thankful for the little things, like my natural supplements and oils that make me joyful. Just pick one thing to be grateful for everyday. I have a podcast episode on it here.

-5-  FORGIVENESS

Just the other day, I decided that I wanted to forgive people who have hurt me. Can I tell you that a weight was lifted off my shoulders? I realized that I didn’t want to carry around this grudge anymore, and when I put it into perspective, holy moly. God gave me so much grace. I encourage you to do the same. You don’t have to put down all boundaries, but at least relieve yourself from feeling the way you are feeling. You don’t have to forget, but just forgive that person. It’s life changing.
