Tell Me What to Do

by | May 5, 2020 | Podcast

Hey guys! What’s up and welcome back to hear and now podcast!

I’m so happy that it’s another Tuesday and that you decided to join me back for another episode. today’s episode is inspired by multiple conversations that I’ve had with people this week someone asked me in my Facebook group Women in Instagram marketing link down below how I can keep generating new content each week.

And I said i base my content on what inspires me. Each day is a new day and new things happen each day. Something you will always inspire me whether it’s something I really something I told someone something someone asked me or something that God placed on my heart that day. So this episode is basically a combination of all of those.

You may have read the title and decide what the heck are you going to be talking about in this episode because it’s titled tell me what to do.

This episode is basically me telling you and giving you advice for listening to God it right now. Like I said this episode is inspired by a couple conversations I’ve had with people this week and I figured that if they’re going to if they’re thinking that Saturday now then they might not be the only month they must not be the only ones. So this episode was born. The words tell me what to do have a more negative connotation To them. It sounds incredibly bossy and just rude to say tell me what to do like kind of sassy but that is not the intention of what I’m gonna be talking about. this is basically saying like we can’t keep forcing of what we want God to do for us and. So I’m gonna kind of tell you guys a little story to start us off

But before I do I wanted to thank the sponsor of today’s episode – luminance skin care! I have been loving their products, especially because they are all natural, vegan toxin and cruelty free! I sometimes feel like when I pray that, that, I’m like, Listen God If you give me This job I will pray   Hail Marys every day or something to that effect, so it’s just like in bartering with God almost and like that’s not how he works, you know? Like he already knows what’s best for us, and we don’t know what’s best for ourselves. So Somebody had asked me that he told me that they just like, don’t feel as close to God right now, as they probably are. used to. And I feel like we’re kind of all in that place because we can’t go to church and like it’s just not there. Same. So she’s like, yeah, I’m praying, and I’m journaling, and I’m doing all the things and you know, I’m making sure I make it a priority. And that’s great. And that’s wonderful for you. But you know what I told her is that why don’t instead of you forcing it and telling God, what you want him to do, you let him tell you what to do. Because I feel like that’s just so much more powerful than you can even imagine. like sitting back and just letting God do work his magic, you know. It’s just kind of incredible. And that’s why I titled this episode, tell me what to do. Because you have to learn to listen and not you are forcing it.

So I know that I’m not the only one who kind of feel sick but do you like I never get into this this point we are you want something so badly to happen to you that you will make anything possible to pop in to force it if that makes sense like like let’s say you really really want this particular but you know I don’t know particular job or something and you’ll do anything to get it that’s kind of what it feels like sometimes when we’re talking with God and we will do anything for something to happen for us and you know you make promises of ham and obviously the human condition and we’re gonna fail 10 times over before we we actually before I fill our promises with him.

I figured that I would make this episode, more of a storytelling. You know, personal experience type of thing, rather than a more practical step by step. thing like that. So as I was saying. It’s become more increasingly evident to let yourself go. That even this time of quarantine. And this virus, and this unpredictability about all that’s happening is more than enough. As a reminder that we need to just let somebody else take control. I know that the emotions are high, and we are kind of in this place where we don’t want to sound like a broken record of just repeating things over and over again, and I personally feel like people are settling in to this fact that we don’t really know what’s happening. And I also seen like a lot of people just becoming more complacent with what’s happening. And it’s kind of interesting to just watch people’s responses to things like that, because nobody’s ever seen something like this before. And none of us know how to deal with this crazy circumstance. So anyway, that was just more of like a practical example that we can all kind of relate to. But, as I say, like, we’re just, I know in my own life, that I can ask for so many things. And it’s kind of almost like a Christmas wish list like you’re like I want numbers one through 16 and blah blah blah, you know, you don’t house and phone and you know etcetera. And it’s almost feeling like you’re bartering with God, like you’re telling him that you need to give me these things. And if you do n’t, then you know x is gonna happen and maybe you’ll just get angry or stop talking to him for a while. And I just want you to know that you know while it’s was not exactly ideal to like kind of stopped talking to God, that it’s natural for us to kind of feel that way. We’re human it’s part of the human condition. And that’s part of the fault and Original Sin is that we are going to doubt and we’re going to have trust issues with God, and we’re going to say are you really there. And it’s actually kind of fascinating because I’m in the middle of my finals and as you guys are listening to this. I won’t be done, I last final of this season, which is so exciting and exhilarating and I’m happy and blah blah blah. But that seemed final, I learned a lot about theology, in this class. And one of the things that I wanted to tell you is that is, I think it’s something like this like after the death of the last apostle, that God is was no longer going to inspire us to know things in a kind of a little bit. I got to back up a little bit more. Is that the Bible is completely inspired by God, like everything that we wrote, or the, you know, the authors wrote down was completely inspired by God. So God basically dictated to them what to say and inspired them, and they translated it into like more human terms because we want to understand the language of God, which I think is so fascinating, because that’s probably why we have so much doubt you know God’s telling us something but it’s in his own language, it’s not in our human condition, in our human language tries to understand. So anyway, after the death of the last apostle, God is no longer inspiring us the same way that he did with the other apostles and the other authors were only speculating. And that just sounds weird but like, you know, how do we know that he’s there now. But that’s where the tell me what to do things comes in, is that you need to listen to what God is saying to you, and how he’s inspiring you and your own life. And the voice of God is going to sound different for everybody. Maybe it’s in, you know, a song lyric where you haven’t heard the song Yes, or maybe you listen to it every day and you just hear the lyrics differently. Or maybe you get a text from a random person like you haven’t heard from in a while, or if somebody asked you to pay for them, you know, HSA, it’s going to be different for everybody. But one of the things that I definitely want to emphasize in this and I don’t know how long this episode is gonna be is kind of me just spitting out what I’m being inspired to say right now is that, there comes to be a certain point where God wants you to just fully and completely surrender. And that is a very, very big word and it’s a hard thing for a lot of us to do is just to choose surrender. There is a prayer novena, which I can link down below called the surrender novena and so if that’s something that you’re struggling with. I really encourage you to pray it and see what comes out of it, it’s a novena sets nine days long series of prayers to help you learn how to surrender to God and to God so well. So, that being said, there’s another thing that us Catholics tend to say, which is offer your sufferings up to Jesus. And I know some other Christians might say this well. It is a very complicated topic for people like what do you mean I can offer my sufferings, I forgot. Well, let’s say that you you know have a particularly hard day at school or something, and you know that your grandparent is sick, and needs a little extra pairs or something. You can turn your sufferings into sufferings and offering them up to God. It’s almost it’s like it’s like a prayer, you know, like turn my suffering to somebody else’s peace because God never wastes anything. So, even if you’re praying for something now and it’s not happening and it’s not coming out of anything and you’re not seeing any results that parents never gonna be wasted maybe, who knows maybe your prayers go on to somebody else who really needs it more than you in that moment, or maybe your pair is going to be in effect, 10 years from now, like, God has no time guys outside of time God is time. And that’s such a crazy concept to think about, for me at least. We learned a lot about that in philosophy last year, and actually junior year, but it’s just it’s just fascinating because like I said God never wastes anything God always turned your pain into somebody else’s piece and if it’s not into somebody else’s piece it’s going to be into your piece. And I feel like that’s just so inspiring to think about. And I actually heard this thing, you know another inspired thing is that, if you start thinking about somebody, and you’re like, Where the heck did that come from that was random, it actually happens to me all the time. That’s like a signal that that person needs your prayers. Until if you’ve been thinking about you know your best friend or your ex best friend from second grade and you’re like why am I thinking about them just start praying for them, because it’s just like an inspiring message. And I thought that’s just like really, really cool. Like I said, God never wastes anything. So to get to the final point of what I’m trying to say is that we need to completely and holy surrender. And I’m not here to tell you how or tell you, you know, the practical steps of how to surrender to God and you know steps one to five. It’s just going to be different for you and it’s gonna be different for me, but just don’t keep forcing a relationship with God. If you’re not wholeheartedly feeling it don’t do it just because you feel like you should   And I feel like it sounds a little controversial but it’s just, it’s the truth, you know, you want to sit back, it’s almost as if like. I guess this, I get this image in my head that you just lay in the field in a field with your, you know, hands wide open, You’re just like okay whatever happens happens like that’s just kind of the mentality of this is that it’s just full trust, or it’s like doing a trust fall when you know nobody’s behind you. That is what chasing and Goddess like. And I remember telling you guys this story. A while ago, I can’t even remember what episode it was from, but it’s about God fulfilling your prayers. And so if I can remember correctly, basically, this guy was in the midst of a snow storm, and he was praying and praying for God to take him out of the snowstorm. And so who knows what he was expecting. But basically, this slay just appears out of nowhere. And he was like No, that’s okay I’m waiting for God to save me and it’s so the slate comes back a little while later, he’s like, No, that’s okay I’m waiting for God to save me. And so the third time, it comes back he’s like no seriously like God’s going to save me. And so it’s a little bit of a sad I needed to story that the guy ends up dying, and as he’s in heaven, he’s talking to God and he’s like, why didn’t you save me. And he’s like, but I did like I sent this slide to you three times. And so the guy was like, wow, like that’s just blind trust is that it’s never going to be exactly how we think it’s going to be. It’s never going to be like those movies that we play in our head and it was things that we create. And this seems like that. But it’s just full surrender. So, anyway, I feel like I’ve kind of touched on what I wanted to. So just remember, tell me what to do instead of telling God what to do. Those are the stories of the saints and how the saints managed to have God completely and fully inspire their life is instead of giving offering their will. God gave them his well. So, I wanted to just offer a little prayer. Real quick, it’s God teach me what do you want me to do with my life and I will do it. And I love this words and it’s so simple to just repeat them over and over again. So make sure you check all the resources down below, they will be definitely helpful for you.
